MEI are delighted to have agreed a 12-month Event Attraction Support partnership

with Lillehammer Olympiapark. This agreement will see MEI support Lillehammer to

engage with International Federations and Rights Holders with the goal of attracting

events to make full use of their world class venues for both sport and international

congresses.

Under this agreement Lillehammer will feature as a Gold Sponsor of the Hosts &

Federations Summit in Lausanne, Switzerland (June 16-18), providing them with the

most significant global platform to showcase their expertise and exquisite venues.

In signing this agreement Daniel Norby, Marketing & Communications Manager said,

“I am delighted to be working with the world leading agency Major Events

International (MEI) to support our ambitions for hosting more, and increasingly

iconic, sports events aligned to our core values. We will certainly be making full use

of our time at the Hosts and Federations Summit in Lausanne with 1-2-1 meetings

and briefing opportunities.”

The Lillehammer Olympiapark was set up following the 1994 Winter Olympics and

operates five sports venues:  Birkebeineren Ski Stadium ,  Håkons Hall , Lillehammer

Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track, Kanthaugen Freestyle Arena and the ski

jumping hill of  Lysgårdsbakken . The venues have continued to host significant mass

participation and elite level sporting events and Olympiaparken is excited to be

hosting the 2027 Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup.

“Working alongside an iconic venue with Olympic heritage is a great privilege.

Lillehammer successfully navigated the tricky post-games period, and it is fantastic

to see their venue still thriving 30 years on. We are excited to support the continued

delivery of events at the Olympiaparken” – Dennis Mills, CEO of MEI.

The Hosts and Federations Summit is MEI’s flagship event and is returning to the

Olympic Museum for its 8 th edition in June 2025. It is the pinnacle gathering of

International Federations, Rights Holders and Host Destinations, and these three

stakeholder groups are granted access to 1-2-1 meetings, exclusive networking

opportunities and expert panel discussions.

Event Attraction Support allows Destinations to fully leverage MEI’s established

relationships with Rights Holders during and beyond the Hosts and Federations

Summit. A strategic combination of marketing support, pre-arranged Rights Holder

meetings and negotiation management provides Destinations with a competitive

advantage when seeking to host sport events, training camps, and congresses.

MEI’s Host City lead Nick Rougier says “We look forward to acquiring an intimate

understanding of Lillehammer’s event hosting ambitions this year. We can use this

information to facilitate targeted introductions with key Rights Holders, ensuring that

conversations continue at pace and that Lillehammer remain informed of new

hosting opportunities before they go to market.”

MEI very much looks forward to promoting and introducing Lillehammer Olympiapark

to a wide variety of International Federations as they seek suitable venues for their

most prestigious international sporting events, training camps, Annual Congresses

with National Federations, and General Assemblies/Awards Evenings.
